“To Let the World In: Narrative and Beyond in Contemporary Indian Art” seeks to probe the potentials and limits of narrative art in the contemporary world. Sharmistha Ray will be moderating a seminar session titled ‘Leaps of Faith: Collectors’ Narratives’ on 17 March, 2012 in Chennai.

India Art Festival 2011 invites Sharmistha Ray to be a panelist on one in a series of panel discussions and seminars in Mumbai, 18th November, 2011

As part of a series of panel discussions and seminars under the India Art Festival, 2011, Sharmistha Ray will engage in the topic “Locating Ourselves: The Persistent Question of Indianness in Shifting Global Scenarios” with Arshiya Lokhandwala, Ratnottama Sengupta and moderator, Nancy Adajania. Scheduled for 18th November, 2011 the discussion will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p. m. at the Culture Hall, Nehru Centre, in Mumbai.

The purpose of Art Conversations is to locate the current state of Modern and Contemporary Indian art with regards to a view on art as a component of larger cultural production and cultural commerce. With reference to historical, academic, critical, curatorial and commercial structures within a local context as well as in continental and global schemes, this series of conversations will investigate new emerging trends and directions in key areas such as collecting, art criticism, curating, the art market and artistic production.

Six Indian Curators Get Invitation to Art Basel 2010

Six Indian curators have been invited to attend Art Basel 2010 and use it as a platform for interesting and engaging discussions while strengthening networks for future cultural exchanges and collaborative projects.

Pro Helvetia – Swiss Arts Council in collaboration with Art Basel has invited the following Indian curators for an organised curator’s trip to Switzerland during the Art Basel week, 13 – 20 June 2010
